This lifting of horror, like mist or fog, is captured in the pause denoted by the ellipses. “O, but Everyone / Was a bird;”: the suggestive capitalisation of “Everyone” here seems to suggest that ‘everyone’ in the poem have for a short while have assumed the freedom of transcendence, of becoming more than themselves. In William Butler Yeats' "The Lake Isle of Innisfree" and William Wordsworth's "Tintern Abbey" there are similar themes of a love and longing for their respective subjects, and a sense that the beauty of nature unfolds something deeper than what the industrialized world can dream of; as Wordsworth says, a glimpse into "the life of things" (48).
