It feels like you are much closer to the instrument. Soaking the reed in plain tap water allows the reed to swell to the correct shape for the mouthpiece to function as it should. The spelling "oboe" was adopted into English ca. 1770 from the Italian oboè, a transliteration in that language's orthography of the 17th-century pronunciation of the French word hautbois, a compound word made of haut ("high, loud") and bois ("wood, woodwind"). Wood has a better sound quality but is more sensitive to damages. Applicants may be invited to campus for a live audition and interview based on the preliminary recording and application materials. Berlin Woodwinds is the first sample library to offer a complete orchestral woodwind section allowing the composer to write for up to woodwinds in 2s (meaning 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets and 2 bassoons), with doubles (Piccolo and English horn). To my surprise, i recently discovered that Paul McCandless plays on Automatic oboes. The YOB-441 is made of the finest quality aged and seasoned grenadilla wood for a rich professional sound. After some warming up, they seemed to behave reasonably the same: near concert grade!
